Insights from the International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas
Recently, the Swanson Homes & Carbon 6 Interiors team joined the 90,000 attendees of the International Builders’ Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas. With more than 2,000 exhibitors showcasing their latest and greatest products, technology, and brands, we’ve broken down our top takeaways and trends for you to get excited about for your upcoming home building project!
Smart & Stunning Kitchen Appliances and Bathroom Accessories
Every year manufacturers advance their smart technology for the home, but at this show, it felt like brands have created products that homeowners will actually find useful!
Standout Brand - Signature Kitchen Appliances
The award-winning kitchen suite appliances are dressed to impressed. With an art-like inspiration and versatile usability, these home appliances are powerful yet sleek.
Standout Brand - Monogram’s Minimalist Collection
They featured sleek lines paired with contemporary styling, LCD screens and push-to-open oven doors with no hardware! This is definitely a bold new look.
Standout Brand - Kohler
Every style imaginable was featured with options for touchless turn-ons, wide sweep sprays, and forceful water power for superior cleaning!
Kohler showcased its new Kohler Konnect app. When paired with a suite of connected Kohler bathroom products, you can control lighting, turn on your shower to a preset temperature and play music. You can also use voice activation with Amazon Alexa or Google Home to control your bathroom products.
Dark Countertops and Cabinetry
Many brands showcased dark and dramatic colors on cabinets and countertops.
Standout Brand - Caesarstone
Caesarstone launched four new dark surfaces, including Black Tempal and Oxidian.
Standout Brand - Cambria Surfaces
Cambria introduced a new black surface with gold veining, as well as dramatic deep charcoal.
A brighter note: Cambria also debuted 20 new slabs for 2020, where Eighteen of the new colors are light and primarily white.
The Color Blue
As Pantone’s color of the year for 2020 no it was no surprise that the color blue was featured in new cabinetry, tiles, wallpapers, and even appliances by the manufacturers exhibiting at IBS.
We certainly noticed the trend while walking through the New American Home, sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders. This home is built for IBS attendees and features the latest in building design trends, products, and techniques. The color blue was sprinkled throughout every room in a variety of shades and textures, see photos below.
Personalization & Customization Details
The number of ways homeowners can personalize and mix & match their finishes in their homes was overwhelming (but exciting). It has never been easier to create a custom style with the newest offerings from decorative handles, cabinetry, doors, knobs -- you name it!
Standout Brand - TruStile Doors
The New American Home featured a variety of different styles of TruStile doors and we were impressed by the variations, quality, and customizability in their products.
Windows Are Having a Moment
The bigger the better, black frames are trending, and to our surprise - Skylights are back!
Standout Brand - Marvin Windows
Marvin Windows went big with their booth this year. Exciting new releases included the Marvin Skycove and the Marvin Awaken Skylight.
There was so much to see at IBS we hope these standout highlights are helpful to you! We look forward to working with these innovative brands and products on our upcoming projects.
